Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  Why do you use contracts?

A.  Contracts protect both me as the photographer and you as the client.  They make expectations of both of us clear.  Way more than once I have had clients reach out to me last minute because their original photographer cancelled their session.  Or took 3 months to get photos back.  Contracts hold us both accountable.

Q.  Please explain the sitting/creative fees.

A.  Sitting/creative fees apply to longer sessions.  Sitting fees hold space on my calendar for your session and are non-refundable.  They cover my time and talent and the time that goes into everything prior to the session – correspondence, setting sessions up, buying outfits/props, etc.  They also go towards the time of my assistant for certain sessions.  Sitting fees to NOT include any prints, products or digitals.  Those are purchased separately after your session.  Headshot sessions and yearbook sessions are 15 minutes long, on average, and do NOT require sitting fees.  Mini sessions require a $25 sitting fee.  Family, maternity, full branding, cake smash, milestone, senior or any other session that takes up to an hour has a $100 sitting fee.  Newborn sessions require a $200 sitting fee as they can take up to 3 hours.

Q.  Do you offer digital images?

The short answer is yes, I do.  The longer answer is that we always encourage our clients to print the portraits we create for you.  We don’t spend literal hours thinking of sets and looking for things to use in your sessions for your portraits to sit on your hard drive.  We want you to print your products and have them visible in your home for you to enjoy on a daily basis.  But any print you purchase from us also includes the corresponding digital file, printable up to an 8×10.

Q.  Why should I print through you vs getting prints on my own?

A.  Unless you have access to a professional lab, the quality of what you can print through Wal-Mart or Shutterfly or Walgreens or any other consumer lab is VASTLY different than what my pro lab can produce.  My fine art prints are printed on the highest quality fine art paper.  This is heirloom quality, acid-free, pH neutral paper that stands the test of time.  They are ink-jet printed with archival quality inks and matted in the highest quality acid-free mats for protection as well.  Our wall art and albums all have similar features and aren’t available from consumer labs.  We want the quality of the prints and products to represent the quality of our work.

Q.  How long will it take for me to get my prints from you?

A.  That depends on what you order.  For senior yearbook prints, I do bulk orders of these in November.  For our fine art matted prints in our collections, these come in heirloom folio boxes that we custom order from Europe, so the turn around time can be up to a month by the time we get the boxes from Europe and then put them all together for you.  Wall art and other prints take anywhere from a week to 3 weeks depending on the product and what professional lab we order them from.

Q.  How long does it take to get our gallery after our session?

A.  I try to get galleries back to you as soon as possible.  This is typically anywhere from 2-3 weeks.

Q.  Do you offer payment plans?

A.  Absolutely.  We realize professional portraits can be a large investment for some.  We work with our clients to come up with individual payment plans that fit your needs.
